What a Small World

I'm walking through the mall today when I hear from a distance someone ask "are you Samantha"? I turn around and this guy tells me I'll be photographing his wedding later this year. I've met and talked with the bride and the bride's parents, but I've never met Jeff--the Groom! How fun was that. He said they are frequent 'bloggers' and he recognized me from my blog! I am so glad he stopped me today 'cause I seldom even meet my brides before the wedding day, much less the groom, so that was pretty neat. I'll be photographing he and Amy's wedding in December. Amy and I (and her mom, Lisa) actually touch base pretty often and from what I know of them already, they are precious people and I look forward to getting to know them even better. Thanks Jeff!!

faith and david

What a beautiful wedding we photographed yesterday! Faith and David, as well as their families were soooo nice and such a pleasure to work with. The ceremony was held at the Ashland Place United Methodist Church and the reception at the historic Richard's DAR House. I hope you enjoy their mini slideshow and I wish Faith and David a wonderful, fun-filled honeymoon in Hawaii!

David gave these earrings to Faith as a wedding gift.

I love shoes!

My First Photo Shoot

Monday I had a photo shoot with ALABAMA WEDDINGS at the beautiful TACON-BARFIELD MANSION. This was a first for me. I photographed flowers and cakes for about 8 hours! I had fun though, 'cause flowers and cakes will do just as I ask. ; ) I love photographing details and I am also so excited to get to know Michelle Tubbs, Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of the magazine. I also have a featured wedding that will be included in the Spring 2007 edition. So stay tuned for that.

Another great thing about the day was meeting Kathy Barfield, owner of the mansion. She and her husband live in the mansion and also use it for weddings, receptions, bridal teas/showers, holiday parties and other special events. Let me tell you...this mansion is amazing! I can't imagine having my wedding there, much less having the priviledge of living there. The house was built between 1899-1901 and is the most elaborate example of the Queen Anne Architectural style in Mobile. Give Kathy or Kenny a call at 251.433.0277 to reserve the Mansion for your special day.

Gulf Shores Shrimp Festival

Because of our busy schedules, wedding season, recent hurricanes, etc., we've missed the annual Gulf Shores Shrimp Festival the last few years, but this year we had a weekend off and were able to go. This is a huge event for the city as visitors come from all over the Gulf Coast States. We noticed car tags from MS, LA, GA, FL and even IN, and of course from counties all over the state of AL. The entire boardwalk of downtown Gulf Shores is blocked off and there are literally thousands of people walking the streets to listen to music from the many different bands playing, shop the hundreds of arts and crafts booths, and eat all the seafood that can be eaten in one day!!

Where else could you get shark-on-a-stick?!

Is this what you call a Shrimp Head?

Finishing off the day with a root bear float.

Where Are You?

Okay, so this is way cool! Check out the new map on the right sidebar and look at the red dots. Well, the red dots represent YOU. How cool is that?! I just posted it so keep a check to see just where the red dots pop up and maybe you'll see your location. I know, Clark tells me it's just another gadget, but I admit it: I need to go to gadget rehab! ; )

Two Beautiful Weddings!

What a busy weekend! I'm posting just a couple of images from this weekend's weddings. I'll post more later in the week as well as their slideshows too. Saturday, we were in Fairhope for Allison and Cory's wedding at the beautiful St. Francis by the Point and Sunday in Birmingham in the chapel at the 4H Center.

Allison was a beautiful bride.

Martha and Michael share a moment before the ceremony.
